FAQ + Tips

OMG, I thought you'd never ask:

Where do family photography sessions take place?

Family sessions can be done outdoors (within Orangeville, otherwise travel charges apply) or indoor using one of our seasonal backdrops.

I have an outdoor session booked, what happens if it rains?

We can control a lot of things in life, but we can’t control the weather. If this is the case, we’ll often wait until the morning of your shoot to contact you to reschedule.

How would you describe your photography style?
Vibrant, colourful, candid, relaxed and hopefully easy! I’m not a moody person, and neither is my photography. I want to live authentically, and that translates into my final work.I prefer colour! After all, we don’t live in a black and white world, and neither should our photography. (Granted there can be an exception to every rule of mine, so if there’s a special project you had in mind, ask me and we can determine if we’re a good fit for each other)

What should we all wear?

Exactly what you like – you all want to look and feel like yourselves. As a guide, simple clothes tend to work best and avoid logos, or prints that could distract. Layering can also work well for creating different looks. Family sessions do not include outfit changes, unless its adding or removing a jacket. Please check session details for branding shoots as they do include more outfit options.

Tip: We do recommend searching on Pinterest for inspiration for colours and styles. Search “what to wear to a ‘family’ , ‘headshot’ or ‘branding shoot’" It may help you choose some ideas out of your closet or as a source for shopping information.

Should we bring anything to the session?

For Families: If you have a family session booked with small children, bring along your child's favourite toys or something meaningful that should be captured in your photos. Or, if there’s anything that you enjoy doing together as a family, we can incorporate that too!

For Dogs: If you’re booked for a dog session, please bring along your dog’s favourite treats.

For Branding Shoots: Props are a great way to help bring your personality, show character and add depth to your photos. Here’s my top suggestions:

  1. Accessories — things you love or use the most (favourite jewellery, scarf, handbag, books, laptop, signature hat, or something related to your business ( ie: signage, branded item like your fav mug etc) Tip: A photoshoot isn’t the time for experimenting with a new look; it’s about showing the natural you and what you’re known for by family, friends or clients.
  2. Dog — You are definitely the star of the show, but if you’re known for your furry friend because he/she is an important part of your business then they should be part of your limelight! I always welcome dogs, especially if they're one of the reasons your passionate about what you do!
  3. Think Ahead — Do you have a milestone in your business or a birthday coming up? Let’s incorporate that into your photos. Bring a glass of bubbly or cake with candles (don’t forget the lighter!). Perhaps a new product/service is launching soon where you can incorporate that into the shoot. Think ahead, and we can incorporate that idea and applicable prop(s), so you’re prepared and have it in your photo gallery.

Send a message — Let’s get creative with a message on your shirt that ties in with your industry, work or personality. As long as you’re ok with me using it for marketing in my other business, I’d be delighted to offer you a 25% discount on any shirt/top or coffee mug from my complimentary business, Say it with Stacey. Just be sure to give me enough notice so I can order inventory if needed.
